2020 Chevy Impala Trim Comparison
The Chevy Impala is back for 2020 looking better than ever and loaded with great features. The full-size sedan has a luxurious look that delivers on the inside and under the hood, as well. It’s a car that you’ll love driving, whether you are just headed to work in the morning or you’re planning a longer road trip.
Often, when you shop for a new vehicle, you have an array of trim levels. While that gives you more options to ensure that you get the features you want, it can also make it harder for you to decide. Too many choices can ultimately result in decision paralysis. With the 2020 Chevy Impala, you get so many great features packed into one model that you don’t really need multiple trim levels or options packages. That’s why you only have two trim levels to choose from on the 2020 Chevy Impala, and each of the trim levels comes with two optional packages.
Here’s a closer look at each of the trim levels and their package options to help you better decide which is the right 2020 Chevy Impala for you:
Chevy Imapala LT
The base model 2020 Chevy Impala is the LT. The gorgeous sedan comes in five exterior colors: Black, Cajun Red Tintcoat, Iridescent Pearl Tintcoat, Silver Ice Metallic, and Summit White. The interior is only available in Jet Black. Exterior features include body-colored door handles, a chrome front bumper insert, and body-colored front and rear bumpers. There are heated, power mirrors with built-in turn signal indicators. The mirrors also fold in on remote power.
You’ll find a beautiful interior that matches the outside, with plenty of great features and sophisticated styling. Upholstery is a mix of cloth and leatherette, and many of the trimmings are leather, including the dashboard, shift knob, and steering wheel. Chrome accents are placed throughout, and there is simulated wood on the door panels. Driver and passenger seats have multiple points of adjustment to get the right position for optimal comfort.
Multiple convenience features are offered to enhance your driving experience. A proximity key offers keyless entry, keyless start, remote engine start, and remote release for the trunk. There’s a day-night rearview mirror, two USB ports for charging phones and other devices, two 12-volt power outlets, and an illuminated glovebox. Automatic temperature control makes it easy to keep the whole cabin comfortable.
The entertainment system is much more robust than what you would find on most base model sedans. You’ll get a six-speaker system with an audio theft deterrent. The system comes with a 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot, turn-by-turn navigation, smart device integration, and voice-activated radio. Other features include speed-sensitive volume and an automatic equalizer.
But the 2020 Chevy Impala doesn’t just look pretty and distract you with bells and whistles. It’s also a lot of fun to drive. The base model is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that puts out 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and auto-manual, and it gets a combined fuel efficiency of 22 mpg.
If you want a bit more from the 2020 Impala but you don’t want to upgrade your trim level, you might consider taking advantage of one of two available packages. The LT Convenience Package adds heated seats and steering wheel, as well as an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a universal home remote. The Driver Confidence Package adds rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert.
Chevy Impala Premier
With the 2020 Chevy Impala, you’ll feel like you’re getting a luxury vehicle even with the base model. But if you want to get the best of the best, you can find it in the Premier trim level. You get all the same offerings from the base model, plus a few extras.
The same color options are offered for the exterior and the interior of the Impala Premier. Some new exterior features on this trim level include chrome door handles, a chrome tip exhaust, and bodyside moldings. Heated mirrors are also standard at this trim level.
Inside, the upholstery is upgraded to leather and the seats get a few more points of adjustment. Heated seats are also standard at this trim level, though you have to choose an options package to get cooled seats. Some upgraded convenience features include a navigation system with voice activation, dual-zone temperature control, and memory settings.
The entertainment system is upgraded to have 11 premium Bose speakers, an amplifier, and a Bose Centerpoint Surround digital signal processor. A CD-MP3 decoder is also added, as is a CD player with remote controls.
The powertrain is the same, and you get the same great suite of safety features, including the tracker system, engine immobilizer, brake assistance, and host of airbags.
If you want more features, you can add on the Premier Convenience Package, which gives you ventilated (cooled) front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power tilt and telescoping steering column. The other options package, the Premier Confidence Package, gives you forward collision alert, lane departure warning, full range adaptive cruise control, and 20-inch aluminum wheels. You can also add on all-weather mats for either trim level.
