2021 Chevy Colorado Trims and Packages
The Chevy Colorado is a compact truck, but it offers you a lot of capability and function. This vehicle can help you with everyday towing and hauling, and it also offers you off-road capability. However, before you buy a 2021 Chevy Colorado, you have to figure out what trim option, engine option, cab option, and bed option you want, as well as any package options. Learn more about this below.
Engine Options:
First, let’s take a look at the different engine options and the performance that they can offer you.
- 2.5-liter four-cylinder – The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 200-horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque.
- 3.6-liter V6 – Your next engine option is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that can give you 308-horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. This engine can tow up to 7,000 pounds when properly equipped.
- 2.8-liter turbodiesel – Finally, you have a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 181-horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. This engine can tow up to 7,700 pounds when properly equipped.
Cab and Bed Options:
After you think about the performance you want in your 2021 Colorado, you have to think about the passenger space and cargo space you need. Check out your cab and bed options below.
- Extended Cab/Long Bed – The extended cab option has two rows of seating, and it seats up to four people. The back is not very spacious, and there are only small rear-hinged doors to get access to it. The extended cab option is only available with the long bed, which is a 6-foot-2-inch bed.
- Crew Cab/Short Bed – The crew cab option is what you want if you routinely have rear passengers. This option has a more spacious interior with seating for up to five people and four full doors. The crew cab can often be found with the short bed, which is a 5-foot-2-inch bed length.
- Crew Cab/Long Bed – The crew cab can also be available with the long bed, which is the 6-foot-2-inch. This combination makes for an overall length of almost 19 feet for this Colorado.
Now that we have talked about the different engine options, cab options, and bed options, we can start to get into the trim levels. Each trim level will offer you slightly different features, so you have to think about what you need from your truck when you are going through the options.
WT
For the 2021 model, the Chevy Colorado got rid of the Base trim, so the WT or Work Truck trim is now the base option. This will be your most affordable trim option, and it will come standard with the base 2.5-liter engine. This vehicle has the option of either cab or bed, but the base option is the extended cab with the long bed.
When it comes to interior features, the WT offers you a standard rearview camera and a Chevy Infotainment 3 System with a 7-inch touchscreen. You can also stay connected to your smartphone with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. There is also the Teen Driver safety system that can look out for your young drivers and help coach them. Other standard features include satellite radio and a six-speaker audio system.
If you are looking for an affordable Chevy Colorado truck, the WT is the option for you. This is your most affordable option, but it still provides you with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Teen Driver.
LT
The LT trim is your next step up. This vehicle comes standard with the base engine and the extended cab, but you can upgrade to either of the other available engines, or the crew cab model, but it will cost you slightly more.
This trim level adds a few extra interior features to make your life more convenient. This trim adds features like cruise control, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, and additional USB ports. You also get added technology like a larger 8-inch touchscreen to go with the infotainment system and a Wi-Fi hotspot. With the LT trim, you also get the added functionality of the EZ Lift & Lower tailgate to make loading your cargo easier.
The LT is a great trim if you are looking for a little bit more for your truck. This vehicle has the option of the V6 engine upgrade, as well as additional interior technology features and the EZ Lift & Lower tailgate.
Z71
The Z71 trim is the first option that offers you the V6 engine standard, but you also have the option to change your engine to the turbodiesel engine option. The most affordable Z71 trim option is found with the crew cab and short bed, but you can switch that out for other options.
This is one of the off-road trim options for the Chevy Colorado, so you will start to see some performance features with this trim. You get the 3.6-liter V6 engine standard, and it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You also get features like recovery hooks, hill descent control, an automatic locking rear differential, and an off-road suspension.
When it comes to interior features, the Colorado Z71 gives you a remote start, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, automatic climate control, voice recognition, rear parking sensors, and wireless device charging.

ZR2
The ZR2 is your top-level trim option for the Chevy Colorado. This model comes standard with the V6 engine, and it is known to be the most capable off-road model in all of the 2021 Colorado models. This vehicle is available with the extended cab or crew cab, but you do not have the option of getting the long bed with the crew cab model.
The Colorado ZR2 is your fanciest and most capable 2021 Chevy Colorado model.
