New Equinox Exterior With Side Marker Light

December 29th, 2021 by

If you haven’t heard – Chevy mixed things up for the Equinox in 2022 by completely refreshing the exterior. And while there are plenty of changes to dive into, one that often gets overlooked is the new location for the side marker light.

We’ll cover that and everything else you need to know about the 2022 refresh here.

All About the Marker Light

While the marker light is one of the more overlooked changes in the Equinox exterior, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out. Because while it’s not the most notable change in the world if you’re not already looking for it, it does add a different stylistic element to the front of the Equinox.

Essentially instead of integrating the marker light into the side of the headlight, Chevy shifted it down to the leading edge of the front wheel wells.

This new location highlights the front end a bit more, making the marker light a bit more visible all around. It’s not a groundbreaking shift, but it’s a nice touch that pushes an already nice vehicle a little further in the right direction.

Other Changes in the Refresh

The marker light isn’t the only thing Chevy changed in their 2022 refresh of the Equinox, and we couldn’t wrap up this guide without highlighting some of the other changes. The most notable change has to be with the front headlights.

Gone is the single-tier headlight setup from years past, and now it’s a two-tier headlight configuration with the main lighting unit on the bottom and a daytime running unit on the top of the cluster. But not only did Chevy revamp the headlight design, but they also have three new grille designs depending on the model you choose.

From there, Chevy replaced the taillights in the rear, and now every light on the vehicle from front to back is LED. Finally, Chevy moved the lower intake and completely redesigned the fog lights and fog light housings. However, not every Equinox has fog lights, so you’ll only notice this change on models that have them.

While none of these changes are completely revolutionary, keep in mind it’s only an exterior refresh. Not only that, but Chevy just refreshed the exterior in 2018, so it’s not like they needed to completely overhaul the design to begin with.

The 2022 refresh is all about Chevy working to improve an already outstanding product, so they didn’t need to reinvent the wheel!

Final Thoughts

The exterior marker light position might not seem like much at first blush, but it’s this attention to detail that pushes the Equinox into the top tier of vehicles. Chevy doesn’t take the little things for granted, and they’re always reevaluating things to ensure they’re pushing out the best possible vehicle.

So, the marker light might just seem like a marker light to some, but to Chevy it’s all about making use of every feature and pushing out the best possible vehicle.
