First Look: Redesigned 2022 Bolt EV

Sometimes vehicle manufacturers push out almost identical vehicles model year after model year. That’s certainly not what Chevy did with the 2022 Bolt EV.
They took the time to complete a full cosmetic makeover for their 2022 model, and somehow they found a way to lower the starting price in the process! If you’ve been thinking of getting an electric vehicle, now is a better time than ever before, and the Bolt EV highlights why.
New Features for the 2022 Bolt EV
The 2021 Bolt EV looks like any other vehicle on the road. The 2022 Bolt EV looks like it came straight from the future. With sharper lines and a sheet-metal like appearance, it’s exactly what you think of when you think of an electric car.
But Chevy did more than just redesign the exterior. They refinished the entire cabin, starting with the instrument cluster. It’s now an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster, which pairs well with the 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Chevy also ditched the electronic shifter, equipping the 2022 Bolt EV with pull toggles and push-buttons. Paired with a flat-bottom steering wheel gives the interior a high-tech look to match the outside.
From there, Chevy also used higher-quality materials in the seats and dash for a more comfortable experience and longer-lasting performance.
And while Chevy didn’t increase the range for the 2022 Bolt EV, it does have the option for a dual-level charging cord now. The Level-2 option increases the charging speed to 11 kW, and it can provide a full charge in just 7-hours!
With a 120-volt and 240-volt compatible charging cord, there’s no need for a separate charging station at home – which means it’s never been easier to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.
But the most significant difference for the 2022 Bolt EV is the Super Cruise hands-free driving option. This system uses high-definition maps, sensors, and an in-car monitoring system to complete an autonomous self-driving system. With the 2022 Bolt EV, the future is now.
Lower Prices, Same Performance
It’s a rare occurrence that a newer model year vehicle costs less than the previous version. But with the 2022 Bolt EV, that’s exactly what you get. The base model starts impressively less than previous models!
And while its costs trend down, it still has all the same great performance features. The same motors output the same 259-mile range and horsepower, you still get a rear cross-traffic alert system, 360-degree camera, one-pedal driving mode, and more.
It’s the rare case of you getting more for less, and that’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss.
Final Thoughts
If you were waiting for the price of electric vehicles to drop before purchasing one, the time is now. The 2022 Bolt EV provides everything you’d expect from a futuristic all-electric car, and it does it at a better price than ever.
It’s a full 180 from the 2021 Bolt EV, and it’s undoubtedly a step in the right direction.
